Israel: Work Begins to Reroute Barrier

Israel: Work Begins to Reroute Barrier

More than two years after a Supreme Court ruling, Israel has started work to reroute its security barrier near Bilin, a Palestinian village in the West Bank.

  1. The people in the Bilin village may not have anything to do with the weekly protests. They may only care about their agriculture and it is there right to secure that. For two reasons (a)to feed there families (b)to survive. For two years the Israeli security barrier has been interfering with their means for agricultural productivity. They have lost a lot of revenues.

Although they are very late in there decision, the Supreme Court's verdict is justified.

  2. Israeli encroachment on Palestinian lands really frustrates me because it epitomizes the suppression of the Palestinians. Like Mr. Rochester, I agree that the Supreme Court's verdict is justified. I am not surprised, however, that Israel took two years to move the security barrier. Israel's delay highlights their lack of concern for the well-being of the Palestinian people who depend on the land for survival. Most of these Palestinians are not suicide bombers. And, although I understand Israeli concern about suicide bombers, I believe they overlook the majority of Palestinians who they continue to suppress.
