Israeli Minister Adds Heat to Exchange With Syria

Israel’s foreign minister, Avigdor Lieberman, warned Syria’s president, Bashar al-Assad, that the Assad family would lose power in any war with Israel.

  1. The real issue between Israel and Syria is not what was said between Israel's Foreign Minister Avigdor Lierberman and Syria's President Bashar al-Assad. The point of this article is addressing that "old wounds die hard". Syria is still angry about the 1967 defeat where they lost the Golan Heights to Israel, and they would like to get that territory back. Isreal's foreign misister knows this fact and so he is provoking the issue by emphasizing that the next war will result in President Assad losing both his family and regime. What could he mean by saying "losing your family"? Is Minister Lieberman saying that President Assad's family will be Israel's territory? and if so is he further implying that they will belong to the men that control Israel? one can only guess what damage can be done by telling a president that his wife will be the property of other men and that his children will have to submit to them. It's an oxymoron when a religious figure promote war. The irony in this article is that majority of the parties involved in this feud are religious leaders.
